PHNOM PENH: Cambodian authorities detained 75 Thai nationals, including 48 women, during a raid on a farm in Phum Koh Krabei 1, Chbar Ampov district, as part of a crackdown on technology-based scam operations.

The Dec 9 raid followed an investigation into reports of illegal online fraud activities at the property. The operation, coordinated by the Commission for Combating Technology Crimes (CCTC), led to the seizure of laptops, mobile phones and other equipment believed to be used for scam operations.

The CCTC said authorities are now working with relevant agencies to identify the ringleaders behind the network. All detainees and confiscated items have been handed over to national police for further legal action.

In a separate raid the same day, a joint Cambodian–South Korean task force arrested 50 South Koreans involved in another online scam operation and rescued two Korean nationals in Preah Sihanouk province. The raid, conducted at the Xin Du Hai building in Sihanoukville, uncovered 63 computers, 60 mobile phones and 60 tablets.

Investigations are underway in both cases to trace those orchestrating the scam networks.
